    HR.com Press Releases

A groundbreaking new report from the HR Research Institute sheds light on the untapped potential of HR professionals to redefine employer branding strategies in 2025, emphasizing their role in bridging reputation and talent priorities.
Jackson’s Point, Ontario, Canada - The latest research report, HR.com's State of Employer Branding 2025, by the HR Research Institute highlights a critical finding: HR professionals must take a more active role in developing and maintaining employer brand strategies. The report reveals that while 62% of HR professionals rate their employer brand as above average or excellent at enhancing their company’s reputation, far fewer are confident in its impact on HR-specific priorities like talent attraction, engagement, and retention.

Specifically, less than half indicate that their employer brand is successful in enhancing:
    • Diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB): 46%
    • Talent attraction: 44%
    • Employee engagement: 43%
    • Employee retention: 42%
The findings also reveal a significant gap in intentional branding efforts. Just 28% of organizations have a comprehensive and consistently applied employer branding strategy, while 40% operate without any formal strategy in place.
Moreover, there is an imbalance in the ownership of employer brand strategy within organizations. Marketing or public relations is more likely to lead employer branding efforts (43%) than HR (25%), and this misalignment may prioritize reputation over HR-specific outcomes. A stronger collaboration between HR, marketing, and leadership teams is crucial to building a comprehensive employer brand that aligns business objectives with talent-focused goals.

Looking ahead, artificial intelligence (AI) is expected to play a bigger role in shaping employer branding strategies:
    • Improved candidate targeting and sourcing (41%)
    • Personalized candidate experiences (36%)
    • Automated recruitment processes (34%)
    • Advanced analytics for brand measurement (34%)
    • AI-driven content creation (34%)

Employers will need to adopt AI with care and thoughtful consideration, ensuring its application aligns with compliance standards, legal regulations, and industry best practices.
“HR professionals are uniquely positioned to ensure the employer brand reflects authentic workplace culture and supports critical initiatives like talent attraction and employee retention,” said Debbie McGrath, Chief Instigator and CEO of HR.com. “It’s time to give HR a bigger seat at the table.”

The full research report, HR.com's State of Employer Branding 2025, is available for free download and offers a detailed look at today’s employer brand strategies to help HR professionals understand how to improve processes to best drive success across key HR areas.

The recording of the research webcast presentation, Leveraging Employer Branding: Attracting and Retaining Top Talent in a Competitive Market, is available for viewing 24/7 on demand.

Workbuzz and HR.com’s HR Research Institute study reveals that employee engagement and communication leads HR goals heading into 2025.

Jackson’s Point, Ontario, Canada - According to new research from Workbuzz and HR.com’s HR Research Institute, enhancing employee engagement and experience is currently the foremost priority among HR professionals. However, this focus doesn’t exist in isolation. HR leaders also prioritize boosting worker productivity, attracting top talent, fostering a positive organizational culture, and promoting employee well-being.

The research also shows that better communication plays a role in addressing these HR priorities. It looks at both survey frequency and communication with frontline workers, who are typically harder to reach because they lack designated offices and computers. It turns out there is a positive correlation between the frequency of employee surveys and organizational success in key HR areas. Companies conducting surveys at least quarterly report significantly greater improvements in:
    • Retention: 53% versus 21% for those surveying less frequently.
    • Talent Attraction: 58% versus 27%.
    • Productivity and Performance: 62% versus 30%.
    • Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB): 64% versus 43%.

The study also found that organizations that say their employee experience and engagement levels rose over the last year are much more likely to say it is easy or very easy to communicate with frontline workers (70% versus 20%). The bottom line is that better communication may well help drive improvements among these other top HR priorities.

“Employee engagement and communication are more than just buzzwords; they are a cornerstone of organizational success,” said Debbie McGrath, Chief Instigator and CEO of HR.com. “Organizations that prioritize them not only tend to retain their top talent better but also tend to see measurable improvements in productivity and overall performance. When employees feel heard and valued, businesses thrive.”

“Annual surveys are a start, but they’re not enough in today’s fast-paced workplace,” added Ryan Tahmassebi, People Science Director, WorkBuzz. “Organizations that create real-time feedback loops and maintain open communication channels are better equipped to respond to employee needs and drive engagement.”

The full research report, Trends in Employee Engagement 24/25, is available for free download and offers a detailed look at engagement practices and strategies to provide actionable insights to help HR practitioners and leaders to develop more sophisticated approaches that meet future needs.

HR professionals can also view the recorded session, Today's Top HR Priorities and Practices Heading into 2025, to hear insights from a panel of experts that will provide guidance for navigating the complexities of managing today’s workforce.

Study provides actionable insights and recommendations for HR professionals looking to strengthen their career development strategies.

Jackson’s Point, Ontario, Canada - A new research report, HR.com’s Future of Career Development and Mobility 2024-25, reveals that employee career development programs are falling short across many organizations. Only 20% of companies have reached the top two levels of program maturity, unveiling a significant need for improvement in supporting employee growth.

The study highlights significant gaps in career development and internal mobility efforts. Only 37% of organizations consider themselves effective in career development, while just 42% report success in internal mobility initiatives. Additionally, the research reveals that a mere 22% of organizations offer enough employee development opportunities to keep up with workforce demands. These findings underscore a critical need for organizations to prioritize career growth initiatives, particularly as employee expectations for development opportunities continue to rise.

Managers can play a pivotal role in fostering employee career development. A small majority (54%) of organizations report that managers are encouraged to help employees develop their careers. However, the research highlights concerning gaps in manager readiness and motivation:
    • In 34% of organizations, managers actively discourage internal movement to retain high performers.
    • Only 15% of companies have managers equipped with the necessary skills to develop employees.
    • Just 10% of organizations recognize and reward managers for developing their direct reports.

“Managers are uniquely positioned to drive employee development, but they need the right training, tools, and incentives to succeed,” said Debbie McGrath, Chief Instigator and CEO of HR.com. “Organizations that prioritize manager development can build a more engaged, agile, and productive workforce.”

The full research report, HR.com's Future of Career Development and Mobility 2024-25, is available for free download and offers a detailed look at today’s employee development and training programs to provide actionable insights and recommendations for HR professionals looking to strengthen their career development strategies.

Only 22% of organizations describe their compensation strategies as advanced, highlighting the need for modernization.

Jackson’s Point, Ontario, Canada - HR.com has released its latest research report, HR.com's Future of Compensation and Total Rewards 2024-25, revealing key insights into how organizations are approaching compensation and total rewards strategies amid a rapidly changing workplace. The findings underscore that while organizations recognize the growing importance of effective compensation systems, many are still struggling to modernize and align their approaches to meet employee needs.

This critical gap is highlighted by the fact that while 67% of HR professionals responding believe compensation and total rewards will gain importance in the next two years, only 22% of organizations describe their compensation approaches as advanced or innovative.

Organizations are grappling with several challenges with their compensation strategies, including:
    • Lack of clarity: 40% say their compensation systems are not well understood by employees.
    • Lack of personalization: 30% report their systems fail to address individual employee needs.
    • Wage compression issues: 30% cite wage compression as a persistent challenge.
Further examination points to the lack of focus on achieving pay equity. Only 32% cite fair and equitable pay as a top-three driver of their compensation strategy, suggesting that many organizations are not prioritizing pay equity as a means to attract and retain talent.

Despite these hurdles, many organizations are taking steps to create better employee experiences:
    • 65% ensure employees have easy access to pay and benefits information.
    • 59% promote work-life balance through flexible work arrangements.
    • 56% are actively educating employees about their benefits.
“Compensation and total rewards are critical drivers of employee engagement and retention, yet our research shows that many organizations still struggle to modernize their systems,” said Debbie McGrath, Chief Instigator and CEO of HR.com.  “This report highlights not only the challenges but also the opportunities for HR leaders to create more equitable, transparent, and effective compensation practices.”

The latest research report, HR.com's Future of AI and Recruitment Technologies 2024-25, unveils key insights into recruitment technology, AI adoption, and mobile optimization, equipping HR and recruiting professionals with tools to excel in the competitive hiring landscape.

Jackson’s Point, Ontario, Canada - HR.com’s HR Research Institute’s latest study, HR.com’s Future of AI and Recruitment Technologies 2024-25, reveals a seismic shift in the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in talent acquisition (TA). The use of AI in hiring processes has nearly doubled in one year, soaring from 26% in 2023 to 53% in 2024.

While organizations are advancing their recruitment technology capabilities, the study reveals considerable room for improvement in adopting and optimizing modern tools to meet current hiring demands.

    Key Findings:
    • Recruitment Tech Performance Lags: Only 45% of HR professionals rate their recruitment tech stacks as good or excellent—a slight increase from 39% last year. This leaves over half of organizations stuck at average or below-average levels, slowing their ability to attract top talent.
    • Mismatch in Job Advertising Methods and Effectiveness: While 82% of organizations advertise jobs on their company website and 78% on job boards, only 32% and 53%, respectively, find these methods effective.
    • Lagging Mobile Optimization: Only 50% of respondents believe their job application processes are optimized for mobile, leaving the other half struggling to catch up in a mobile-first world. This failure to leverage mobile recruiting results in missed opportunities to connect with a broader and more responsive talent pool.
    • AI Adoption Drives Superior Results: Organizations with advanced recruitment technology are reaping the benefits of artificial intelligence. These companies are:
      • 33 times more likely to use AI for predictive analytics
      • 20 times more likely to leverage AI extensively for enhancing TA strategies
“Recruitment technology is evolving, but many organizations are missing key opportunities to improve efficiency and candidate experience,” said Debbie McGrath, Chief Instigator and CEO of HR.com. “Our research underscores the urgent need for businesses to embrace cutting-edge tools, particularly AI and mobile optimization, to stay competitive in the war for talent.”
