A new study from Aimed Alliance and HR.com’s HR Research Institute highlights the career impact of menopause and the need for supportive workplace policies

Jackson’s Point, Ontario, Canada - Although most HR professionals are aware that perimenopause and menopause symptoms affect the careers of many women in the workplace, few believe their organizations actively work to address the stigma surrounding these issues.

Just 22% of HR professionals believe their organizations actively work to reduce this stigma for all employees, including those experiencing perimenopause/menopause. The newly released report, Understanding the Health Issues of Women in Midlife, by Aimed Alliance and HR.com’s HR Research Institute, reveals this lack of support may be leading to significant career repercussions for women in midlife, with menopause-related symptoms contributing to absenteeism, reduced productivity, and even early workforce departure.

The study indicates that 81% of respondents recognize the impact of menopause symptoms on women’s careers, citing consequences such as:
    • Loss of self-confidence (85%)
    • Presenteeism—working while unwell (68%)
    • Loss of engagement (67%)
Yet, workplace culture remains largely unsupportive. Only 41% of respondents say their organizations actively foster a positive and healthy work environment, and a concerning 10% believe discussing menopause or health issues at work is unprofessional. As a result, 61% report that women feel uncomfortable raising concerns about treatment coverage for age-related health issues.

“Organizations must break the silence surrounding midlife health and create workplaces where employees feel supported,” said Debbie McGrath, Chief Instigator and CEO of HR.com. “Ignoring these issues not only impacts individual well-being but also hinders productivity, engagement, and retention.”

The research identifies key accommodations that can help organizations foster a menopause-friendly workplace, including:
    • Time off for medical appointments (88%)
    • Consistent access to restrooms (86%)
    • Employee assistance programs (EAPs) (80%)
The research report, Understanding the Health Issues of Women in Midlife, is available for free download and offers a detailed look at critical trends and strategies to help employers prepare for the future of HR.

Latest study reveals the keys to help employers shift toward more strategic payroll management to drive better efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance the employee experience.

Jackson’s Point, Ontario, Canada - New research from HR.com’s HR Research Institute reveals that most organizations fall short in making payroll a strategic function, leaving opportunities for cost savings and employee satisfaction untapped. According to the findings, only 25% of payroll programs operate at higher strategic levels, with the majority of organizations failing to implement key strategies and automation necessary to streamline payroll operations.

The research report, HR.com’s Future of Payroll 2025, explores the current state of payroll functions across various industries and highlights the critical need for employers to inject more strategy into their payroll processes to ensure better outcomes, both in terms of efficiency and employee satisfaction. As payroll programs advance, organizations with more automated and strategically aligned payroll systems are seeing significant advantages.

The study also found that companies with more advanced payroll functions are:
    • Nearly 16X more likely to have automated payroll to a high or very high degree
    • Over 5X more likely to keep pace with economic trends
    • More than 4X more likely to enhance the employee payroll experience

However, despite these promising findings, the research uncovered significant challenges still facing payroll processes, including:
    • Lack of technology integration (43%)
    • Cost of payroll technology systems (41%)
    • Inconsistent or minimal automation (33%)
The findings suggest that payroll functions are often hindered by outdated systems, budget constraints, and the failure to leverage modern automation and integration tools, leaving HR and payroll departments with limited capacity to manage the increasing complexity of today’s workforce.

“Amid persistent impediments to achieving efficiency and risk mitigation in processing payroll, payroll professionals also face a necessity and opportunity to become strategic in the eyes of organizational leadership,” says Brent Skinner, Executive Community Leader of the Future of Payroll and Workforce Management at HR.com. “The key to their success lies in finding modern, innovative solutions for these challenges in operations, security and compliance even while leveraging their newfound time and mental space to lift themselves out of a purely reactive and process-focused mindset."

The full research report, HR.com’s Future of Payroll 2025, is available for free download and offers a detailed look at strategies to help HR professionals shift toward more strategic payroll management to drive better efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance the employee experience.

The recording of the research webcast presentation, Payroll 2.0: Transforming Strategy for the Modern Workforce, is available for viewing 24/7 on demand.

Jackson’s Point, Ontario, Canada - HR.com today announced the release of its latest research report, HR.com’s Future of HR Skills and Strategies 2025, providing a comprehensive look at the evolving role of HR in strategic business operations. The report reveals that when HR is empowered with a seat at the strategic table, organizations tend to reap more significant benefits.

Organizations with robust HR strategies are emerging as industry leaders, as they are:
    • nearly seven times more likely to allocate substantial time to strategic planning and implementation
    • more than twice as likely to view HR as an equal partner in these processes.
Despite this growing recognition of HR as a strategic asset, significant skill gaps persist. In fact, only 38% of HR professionals currently rate their expertise as expert-level. Critical areas for improvement include leveraging HR data and analytics, facilitating change, and thinking strategically:
    • Gap 46 points: While 80% of respondents acknowledge that HR data and analytics are essential or important, just 34% believe that HR demonstrates the necessary proficiency in this area.
    • Gap 42 points: Even though 89% view the ability to facilitate change as critical, only 47% consider HR to be proficient or highly proficient in driving change.
    • Gap 41 points: An overwhelming 92% recognize the importance of strategic thinking, yet merely 51% feel that HR has achieved a high level of proficiency in this key competency.
“Our findings underscore the urgent need for HR leaders to not only adapt but also to lead transformational change within their organizations,” said Debbie McGrath, Chief Instigator and CEO of HR.com. “Bridging these skill gaps will be pivotal in ensuring both HR and overall business success.”

A new study from Accurate and the HR Research Institute reveals that performance management, as well as leadership development, takes center stage as businesses prepare for the future of work.

Jackson’s Point, Ontario, Canada - After years of prioritizing employee experience and retention, in 2025 HR is prioritizing performance management above everything else, followed by leadership development. The latest research study, Workplace Insights: Elevating Employee Experience and Future-Proofing Performance, from Accurate and HR.com’s Research Institute, reveals these areas as the biggest focus in today’s rapidly evolving workforce landscape.

In fact, the findings identify performance management as the top HR priority, with 40% of organizations selecting it as their main focus. This is followed by leadership development (28%) and employee experience (25%)—critical areas that directly impact talent retention and organizational success.

Organizations with stronger performance management processes are seeing major business benefits:
    • 5X more likely to report above-average financial performance in the last year
    • 2X more likely to say overall employee performance is above average

However, leadership challenges remain a concern. Only 26% of HR professionals believe their employees feel well-led, and just 26% say leadership prioritizes employee engagement. Communication is a key issue, with only 15% of organizations achieving high levels of employee communication sophistication and just 35% training managers effectively in communication skills.

Employee experience continues to be a challenge, with only 36% of HR professionals rating their organizations highly in this area. As retention pressures persist in 2025, companies that prioritize well-being and engagement will be better positioned to retain top talent and boost productivity.

“Companies have significantly changed the global workforce in recent years, rethinking how and where people work,” said Debbie McGrath, Chief Instigator and CEO of HR.com. “By analyzing emerging trends and implementing adaptive best practices, organizations can navigate uncertainty, drive innovation, develop and attract top talent, and build resilient, future-ready work environments.”

The research report, Workplace Insights: Elevating Employee Experience and Future-Proofing Performance, is available for free download and offers a detailed look at critical trends and strategies to help employers prepare for the future of HR.

A new research report from the HR Research Institute reveals key strategies to help HR close wage gaps and ensure fairness that boost engagement and retention.

Jackson’s Point, Ontario, Canada - Few organizations excel at pay equity despite the fact that those with greater equity see many business advantages, according to the HR Research Institute's latest report, HR.com’s Future of Pay Equity and Transparency 2025, which underscores the critical importance of pay equity, not just for compliance but as a strategic business imperative.

The study reveals that employers who prioritize pay equity see tangible benefits, including talent retention (60%), ensuring fairness (52%), and attracting top candidates (49%). Despite these advantages, only 28% of organizations have reached the top two stages of pay equity maturity, signaling significant room for progress.

The findings highlight key differentiators between organizations successfully closing pay gaps and those struggling to make progress. Compared to companies with less effective pay equity initiatives, high-performing organizations are:
    • 4.5 times more likely to have a formal budget dedicated to closing pay gaps
    • 4 times more likely to define clear and accurate performance metrics
    • 4 times more likely to set intentional goals to actively investigate and resolve workplace inequities
“Pay equity is more than a legal obligation—it’s a competitive advantage,” said Debbie McGrath, Chief Instigator and CEO of HR.com. “Organizations that invest in pay equity not only build trust with their workforce but also drive better business outcomes.”

The full research report, HR.com’s Future of Pay Equity and Transparency 2025, is available for free download and offers a detailed look at today’s pay equity and pay transparency efforts to help HR and leaders improve their initiatives for closing wage gaps to lead the way in fostering an inclusive and engaged workplace culture.

Wood’s vision for the role is to create a dynamic place where talent acquisition professionals can connect, collaborate, and share knowledge. Wood will foster a community where professionals can identify industry challenges, develop solutions, and drive innovations in the hiring process. As a result, practitioners will be equipped with the latest tools and direction to elevate their roles within their organization and throughout their careers.

"Mike’s deep expertise in talent acquisition and hiring automation will be invaluable to our HR community," stated Debbie McGrath, Chief Instigator and CEO of HR.com. "His insights and strategies will equip talent acquisition  professionals with the knowledge to navigate hiring challenges while also guiding solution providers on the evolving needs of employers, ensuring innovation and efficiency in the future of work."

“I’ve spent the majority of my career in HR Technology and have really fallen in love with the community,” says Wood. “We’ve navigated tremendous change and innovation over the years and I’m excited to help the talent acquisition community to hire the best people and make the experience as seamless as possible for both hiring managers and candidates.”

Wood’s background includes market analysis, writing, public speaking, and podcasting. Starting his career at rewards and recognition vendor Workhuman, Mike Wood was integral to creating one of the industry’s leading influencer programs, identifying analysts and experts in a variety of HR topics and elevating their voices through a variety of content and speaking opportunities. Since 2020, he has worked with Jobvite (now Employ) and iCIMS as an in-house analyst and content director, working with company executives to guide their corporate story.
