The prevailing narrative about tech today is anxiety — over layoffs, banking, funding access. Those are hard realities for the near-term, but there’s reason to be optimistic about the sector too, particularly in New York where tech has been the single greatest driver of economic growth and hiring over the last decade (see our last report).
New York’s tech ecosystem is still growing and demand for talent has proved resilient, even if that ecosystem and its talent demands look differently than they did a couple of years ago. To help show where that growth is happening, and to actually connect both current and emerging tech talent to those opportunities, today we launched the Tech:NYC Jobs Board in partnership with Getro, with nearly 4,000 open roles (and increasing) across 720 companies here in New York.
The board is built to self-update every 24 hours as open roles become filled and new roles come online. The top five most in-demand job functions are: (1) Sales & Business Development, (2) Software Engineering, (3) IT, (4) Operations, and (5) Product.
Whatever else is true about tech right now, New York remains a hub of talent and opportunity, and it’s a credit to the diversity of our economy and strong public-private relationships. Please reach out with any questions you have about the jobs board or the state of tech in New York broadly.
