October 24, 2018, Edmonton, AB: Edmonton entrepreneur Katie Robertson is breaking barriers and empowering other women in business by encouraging and setting an example of how to break down perceived barriers to success. With over 90 per cent of CEO positions worldwide being held by men, Katie’s role as founder and CEO of local communications agency, Grapevine Communications, cements her position as a leader among a growing minority.
Katie founded Grapevine Communications in 2008 in order to help leaders create strategies for success to attain their goals. By providing services such as leadership training, government relations, project management, and more, Katie works towards helping other entrepreneurs realize their dream. By working with a wide variety of organizations and business, Katie has developed a diverse and inclusive perspective on communication and leadership.
“I found an outlet for my passion of connecting people when I discovered the public relations industry and the conduit for fulfilling my vision of helping others succeed,” says Katie. “As a successful business leader and entrepreneur, I believe in the importance of creating communications strategies that equal success.”
Katie’s passion for empowering the people around her extends beyond just her business practices—it’s reflected in her engagement through volunteerism, as well as her work with nonprofits, including the one she herself started, Wild Women Empowered. While continuing to grow Grapevine Communications as she has over the past 10 years, Katie is also currently a member on the interVivos board of directors and an active community volunteer. Grapevine Communications also has a 1% policy whereby 1% of all annual sales are donated to a variety of organizations through in-kind and monetary means.
“I have total conviction that the traditional way of creating a successful business is continuously morphing and you must constantly be on a path of creation & innovation; no identity is set in stone. Authenticity is key.”
