    March Job Cut Report Due Thursday, April 5



    The nation’s employers announced plans to cut 35,369 jobs in February, down 20 percent from the 44,653 cuts announced in January. Last month’s total is 4.3 percent lower than the 36,957 announced job cuts in February 2017. So far this year, employers have announced 80,022 cuts, 3.5 percent lower than through February last year. This is the lowest number of announced job cuts between January and February since 1995, when 69,907 cuts were announced. The report on March job cuts will be released by global outplacement consultancy Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc. on Thursday, April 5, at 7:30 a.m. ET.

    March CEO Report Due Wednesday, April 11
    The number of Chief Executive Officers leaving their posts at U.S.-based companies reached 113 in February, 56.9 percent higher than February 2017, when 72 CEO exits were announced. February’s total was down 14 percent from 132 CEO exits in January. Despite the drop, 245 CEOs have left their posts so far this year, the highest January-February total since 2008, when 248 CEOs left in the first two months of the year. The year-to-date total is 22.5 percent higher than last year, when 200 CEOs left their posts through February. The Challenger report on March CEO turnover will be released Wednesday, April 11, at 10:00 a.m. ET.
