As much as it would be grand to be able to explore the world without having to worry about money, the reality is many of us simply can’t afford to quit our jobs and travel. Freelancing is one way to go, with some choosing to choose the digital nomad life.
While it sounds glamorous, not everyone was made for freelancing and some people would rather avoid the uncertainty and discipline associated with it and opt for full-time employment instead. If you are one of those people, luckily, there are a number of options for you.
1.Flight Attendant or Pilot
This one had to be high up the list because it is likely going to be the first to pop up when you think of travelling jobs. Working as a flight attendant is fantastic really as there are many more benefits to enjoy than simply working from the air. From cheap rent and hotel discounts to ridiculous discounts off airline tickets, it’s a traveller’s dream. But even as you get to experience different exciting cultures around the world, the work is extremely stressful with long hours and tough training.
2.Massage Therapist
If you currently work as a massage therapist or would like to train as one in the near future, you can offer your services in different parts of the world. While some like to go down the line of entrepreneurship, you can work for a larger company and work in one place for a length of time before moving somewhere else.
3.Work on a Cruise Ship or Yacht
Working on a cruise ship is nearly like working on a plane, but there are many more options available, plus you don’t have to fly if you’re not a fan of flying. You get to see some of the most exotic places while you get insurance cover, transportation, accommodation, and food. 4.Travel Nurse

Travel nurses are always in demand as full-time nurses have to go on vacation at some point and hospitals often have extremely busy periods. Whatever the reason a hospital might need a travel nurse, hospitals know now that hiring a travel nurse is cost-effective. You can work with renowned travel nurse staffing agencies like Gifted Healthcare or Atlas Medstaff. You’ll need a degree as a registered nurse and some years of experience, so if you have that already, you can start looking at agencies!
5.Geoscientist
If you work for an oil company as a geologist, chances are you’ll find yourself travelling to parts of the world where there is oil. Geoscientists also work with mining companies, often looking for copper in China at some point and heading off to Brazil the following month to look for gold. The pay is also pretty good, so you’ll have enough to splash when you take a proper vacation.
6.Sailor
If you decide to go down the path of a sailor, you could opt for the civilian life or join the Navy. While it is not for everyone, there are perks of joining the Navy as a sailor, besides the fact that you get to see the world. You’ll enjoy insurance and health benefits, plus you won’t have to be bothered about how the economy is doing because no country can afford to not take proper care of its military.
If you don’t care much for the discipline of the military or don’t want to join the Navy for any other reason, you can become a yacht sailor instead. There will never be a shortage of boat owners who need a good sailor. You get to see the finer side of life while steering a luxury boat. Now, that’s glorious.
7.Event planner
While they are few, there are event companies that get the opportunity to plan massive projects like the Olympics and the World Cup. If you are able to find a company like that to work for, then you would have hit the jackpot. While getting paid to watch the Olympics sounds fantastic, these big events don’t happen very often and there’ll be so much work to do you might forget to enjoy the event.
8.Foreign Service Officer
If you don’t mind public service and foreign affairs, a position as a Foreign Service Officer may be perfect for you. While the process of getting the job might be tedious and lengthy, you’ll get fantastic benefits and pay, plus the job security.
9.Bartender
There is no part of the world where you’ll not find restaurants, nightclubs, and bars. As long as you know the language and are not a bad bartender, you should be fine. You can start off at a local club to build a bit of experience, and when you have gained enough experience and saved up a bit of money, you can head off to some touristy location where work will be easy to find. Enjoy the new place, gain more experience, and repeat.
10.English Teacher
If you like to teach and you know how to speak English, teaching the language is one way to make your travelling dreams come true while getting a decent salary. You can start teaching the language in a country like South Korea, and when you’re ready to go a new place, apply for another teaching job somewhere else. Before you can start out, you will need a bachelor’s degree and a TEFL certification to prove that you are qualified to teach English as foreign language.
