Institute for Liberty Studies co-founder and current Executive Director Matt Bufton is speaking at the University of Toronto tonight.
Bufton is addressing the Students For Liberty (SFL) club at the university about corruption in the public sector and why politicians help their friends. In a lecture on public choice theory, Bufton will highlight the what motivates politicians to act how they typically do.
Event organizer and SFL Campus Coordinator Jesse Velay-Vitow said that he is excited to hear Bufton speak about these concepts and that he hopes other University of Toronto students take advantage of the lecture.
"The concepts of rent-seeking and nepotism are incredibly relevant in any liberal democracy. The Institute for Liberal Studies hosts numerous seminars throughout the year discussing these and other ideas. Matt Bufton, one of the founders, is a powerful force for liberalism in Canada, and many would benefit from being introduced to these ideas," Velay-Vitow said.
