Kaplan, Bustle and Appen among companies recruiting the most part-time remote workers during the first half of 2017

Boulder, CO, July 24, 2017—According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, more than one in six people employed in the U.S. currently work part-time. To help job seekers interested in finding part-time jobs where they can also work from home, today FlexJobs released a list of the  Top 50 Companies to Watch for Part-Time Remote Jobs.  .  This list is based on an analysis of over 40,000 companies and looks specifically at their part-time job posting histories that offered either full or partial telecommute options in FlexJobs’ database during the first six months of 2017 (January 1 through June 30). A “part-time job” refers to jobs that require less than forty hours of work per week.

“A part-time remote job can be an ideal arrangement for many professionals who either can’t find a good job in their local area and/or for people such as working parents, semi-retirees, people with health issues or disabilities, military spouses, millennials, career changers, and people seeking better an alternative working arrangement to full-time, on-site work,” said Sara Sutton Fell, Founder and CEO of FlexJobs. “In these types of roles, workers are able to continue in and even advance their careers, change into new types of work, maintain or grow their professional networks, earn income, and/or pursue their work-related passions without committing to a full-time schedule or wasting time on a commute to a traditional office location.”

Companies of all sizes and across a wide variety of industries hire part-time remote workers. Education, healthcare, human resources, pharmaceutical, research,, and non-profit industries are among those represented on this list. The jobs these companies are hiring for range in experience from entry-level through senior-level management and have varied educational requirements.

Examples of jobs these companies have recently hired for that have offered part-time jobs with telecommute options include registered nurse, digital marketing strategist, staff accountant and community ambassador.  Common part-time remote job titles include tutor, writer, coder, interpreter, editor, and customer service representative.

Many of the companies were also top employers for full-time remote-friendly jobs, having been included in FlexJobs’ 2017 Top 100 Companies for Remote Jobs. Earlier this year FlexJobs also identified the Top 50 Companies for Part-time Jobs.
