Whether you want to be stop procrastinating or you’re already getting a lot done and want to do more, these tips will help you become more productive. You can create extra time, and get a lot more done by making simple changes in your daily routine. Without further ado let’s look into the 5 ways that you can become more productive.
Plan your days
This is more than saying to yourself ‘I’ll do this or that tomorrow’. You actually have to write everything down if you want to complete all your tasks. There are two advantages of writing your plans down. One, is you get to remember everything that you wanted to do. The other is, there’s something about writing goals down which makes them more attainable. So every night, take out your diary and write down everything you plan to do the next day. Soon you’ll realize that you’re getting a lot done.
Don’t celebrate too early
We all feel good when we set out to do a task and complete it. But this sense of accomplishment makes us want to relax and forget about other tasks ahead of us. So if there’s something you’re supposed to do by 1 pm and you complete it at 11 pm, don’t sit around waiting till 2 pm to start the other task. Start it right away, it’s better to relax at the end of the day than to relax in between tasks while you still have a lot to do. I use this simple rule – do what you don’t feel like doing. Because most times I’ve found that that thing that you don’t want to do is usually the most impactful. So avoid slacking during the day, and perform tasks even if you don’t feel like it.
Do the hard task first
If you want to get things done you have to finish the most daunting task. It’s natural to want to put off the most demanding task for later. Well, avoid this by performing this task fast. Once you complete it, the other tasks will be a piece of cake. Avoid putting off things, just get started
Do it all at once
Simple tasks like email take up a lot of time by the end of the day. So instead of answering one email at a time, spare 30 minutes to answer all your emails for that day. This can be done for many other tasks as well, for instance picking up calls. In fact, I have seen this approach used in cooking, and it’s becoming very popular nowadays. Basically, you can cook a whole week’s meal in one go, learn more about it here. I hope you get the point, do all tasks at once.
Avoid getting distracted
There’s nothing that kills time more than distractions. And it’s so easy to be distracted, so you need to find ways to stay focused throughout. For instance you could turn off, skype, email, facebook and all social media. Just start making observations and record what distracts you during the day. Then start on working to avoid your distractions
