    1.       Focus on the potential of the candidate: When you hire a person, nothing can be more important than his personality. While having the right set of skill might seem important, having the perfect personality is also important. Social intelligence is a vital factor which is the ability of the person to deal with various kinds of social situations and work well among many other people. An HR should not be pigeonholed into considering a person appropriate only by checking his abilities and experience. Consider his soft skills, communication skills, emotional intelligence and thought processes.

    2.       Analyze the competency of the person: Is the candidate competent enough? This is yet another important factor to consider by the HR. You need to check whether or not the potential employee has the required experience, skills and education to complete the tasks which will be assigned to him. Competency is therefore the second thing that you should check after the potential of the person.

    3.       Check the person’s social media profiles: Like most of the employers, you should probably make it a point to check the person’s background. Nowadays, social media is the best place to get information about someone and hence you can make a quick search with the name of the person to see what comes up about the person online. If you forget to check the social media profiles of the candidate, you could be missing out on an important part.

    4.       Ask him the right questions: Can you suddenly ask someone whether or not they’re a jerk? But you can definitely ask the person the right questions which will help you figure out the exact thing about the person. If you ask him the reason behind leaving his last job and if he says that he did so due to some other person, you need to follow him up with another question. If they continue blaming other external forces, you could better look for another employee.
