    5 Ways to Prevent Productivity Loss During an Accident


    Nothing can destroy your overall mood, confidence and productivity, like an accident. Every injury can cause other health issues, and make those you already suffer from worse, e.g. anemia, diabetes, etc. We become less confident and productive, as we start forcing ourselves and trying to reach certain goals, which we couldn’t have managed to achieve even if we were healthy at that time.

    Increased productivity is the result of feeling happy, motivated and fresh. If you are injured, and you become depressed and worried about some unimportant things such as tumbling down the corporate ladder or having a lower salary, you will definitely lose your focus and forget what things are essential in life. Health mustn’t be neglected, and if you have got some injury that is preventing you from working well for a period of time, it doesn’t mean that your career is over.

    1. Stop feeling sorry for yourself

    The majority of people who experience some kind of injury start feeling sorry for themselves and acting like the victim of cruel fate. This only makes you feel depressed, like there is no luck in the world for you, and all the happiness has died. This all leads to making your injury even worse in your head. Except for the overall mood and pessimistic view on life, you won’t be able to accomplish your daily tasks, and stay productive, as your focus will be on your misfortune. Do as much as you realistically can, and you will certainly be sufficiently productive.

    2. Don’t force yourself

    Whether they have a broken leg, or some illness, people tend to immediately start forcing themselves to work harder as you don’t want to lower your performance level. This is ridiculous, because no one expects some unbelievable results from you, while you are dealing with serious health issues. Working will help you stay in your routine and lead life as you did before, without your injury preventing you from having the normal life that you are used to.

    When people experience personal injury in the workplace, a lot of them tend to get frustrated, because they think that it might affect their position in the company. For example, if you are a programmer, and you hurt your finger, the worst thing to do is to start forcing yourself to work more as you don’t want to accept the fact that someone else will take the project. An even worse thing is to think that you won’t be able to type with both hands anymore. Work slowly, and success is guaranteed.

    On the other hand, there are people who cannot bear to think about their problem, so they start piling up obligations and tasks on purpose. That’s not the way to get well, and it simply will not take the problems away. Moreover, this will not help you stay productive, and you will only decrease the quality of your work.

    3. Focus on the bright side

    As you want to stay productive, focus on the bright side and think positive. This way you’ll feel better and be able to soldier on at work. If you want to stay focused, you need to keep yourself motivated, which can only be done by thinking positive thoughts and considering the brighter side of things.

    4. Stop stressing out

    Feeling sorry for yourself is stressful, and all that pent up stress can lead to chronic frustration and anxiety attacks. You cannot change anything, so why worry about it? It definitely won’t do you any good. In order to stay productive, you need to let go of negative thoughts, stop worrying, and focus on your tasks.

    5. Take some time off

    If you experienced an injury, and you are able to work, but you feel that you are under a lot of pressure, just take some time off. Even the busiest people in the world take some time off to rest. Maybe all you need is a week of relaxation. If you just sit at your desk without doing anything, you are not helping your company, nor yourself. It’s better to take some time off and come back to work feeling fresh, than waste your time staring off into space. By recharging your batteries, you will certainly become more productive and ready to face new challenges.

    Health comes first, but if it isn’t something that is preventing you from your daily routines, don’t become a drama queen, and start making wrong choices at work. Work as much as you can, think positive and pull yourself together in order to stay productive. However, if you cannot keep up, don’t waste your time, but take a few days off.
