MINDDRIVE, a “for purpose” educational organization offering after-school programs in STEM and personal development through communications skills, has announced the selection of Paula Guinn as Executive Director.

Paula Guinn joins the MINDDRIVE team as Executive Director bringing years of experience working in the area of development with non-profits and educational institutions in and around the Kansas City area. Her history includes the American Civil Liberties Union, DeLaSalle Education Center and The American Cancer Society.
With the addition of Guinn the program takes a significant step toward a more sustainable future. Paula brings not-for-profit organizational experience along with a background focused on development. The program has had impressive growth over the past 5 years and, with this proven track record, Paula will direct enhanced connections within the community for support and program development.
Her goal will be to increase the number of students influenced by the MINDDRIVE program. She has served on the Board of Directors of MINDDRIVE and has had a relationship with the program that goes back to its origins as a class at DeLaSalle Education Center, where she worked as a member of the Development staff.
“It has been incredible to witness the growth of MINDDRIVE in just a few years. The combination of an engaging, real world approach to education and a high level of mentor involvement leads to success for students in this after-school program,” says Guinn. “I am thrilled to join MINDDRIVE and be a part of the expansion and development of this innovative organization.”
MINDDRIVE offers classes on Saturdays in Automotive Design Studio and Contemporary Communications. Weekday evening classes will focus specifically on Welding, 3D CAD, Video Editing, and an Innovation Incubator that explores research and development behind the production of solar-powered pedestrian streetlights. Classes begin in late September with applications opening toward the end of August.

The program is funded through the national sponsorships of Bridgestone, Hertz Corporation, ASME Foundation and KCP&L as well as through local charitable foundations and individual contributors. MINDDRIVE serves nearly 50 students from the urban core of Kansas City, currently working with more than 15 area schools.
