Now, I am sorry if this comes as a rude awakening (really I am!): In fact you could be on the hook here too. While you may not exactly welcome the idea of having to worry about these issues with respect to people who you don't always think of as your employees, it beats having to address them in an infinitely more expensive lawsuit.
