    Public vs Private Health care exchanges


    There are a lot of new terms being introduced nowadays th the human resources and benefits industry Marketplaces, private exchanges, navigators, enroller's and more new terms are coming every day. Brush up with us as we introduce you to some of the new lexicon.
    The A.C.A. or Affordable Care Act is our National Health Care Law (Obama care) which began with the roll out of the public  exchanges last month. The A.C.A. law required insurers to offer coverage to all Americans. It spurred new methods to streamline healthcare and reduce the rapidly rising costs. One of the biggest introductions began October 1st with the rollout of the public insurance exchanges for individuals.
    What most don't know is we have had Private exchanges for quite some time now. Both public and private Insurance Exchanges or Marketplaces will allow you to go shopping for Major Medical insurance coverage. Only.you as an individual can choose your level and copay from metallic plans.
    Shopping on these exchanges is very similar to shopping online for travel tickets or on Amazon for goods. You will also be provided choices of insurance carriers and plans available in your local area. All plans and carriers have been government pre-screened and are approved insurance providers.
    Individuals now have the ability to choose from both a public or private exchange or marketplace.
    The recently debuted public or government based Exchanges do have some limitations though. Some of the exchanges have an enroller or Navigator's to speak with who cannot answer questions like what is the best plan for me? They are not licensed insurance agents. They do try to help though.
    The Private Exchange's have been around for quite a while on the other hand. It will have identical plans and pricing available as the state and federal versions. The only real difference between a public and private will be the private exchanges level of experience staffed with licensed trained insurance agents who can offer solutions and answer questions, private exchanges do also offer a selection of voluntary or supplemental insurance benefits such as Dental, Hospital, Cancer and Accident insurance.
