Most employees plan to stay put in their jobs despite being dissatisfied, according to a recent global survey conducted by Deloitte.
The main reason cited for dissatisfaction with their jobs stemmed from lack of career progress, followed by dissatisfaction with their boss, and by not being paid enough.
Most people cited financial incentives as the main reason for staying, followed by promotions. Twenty-six percent cited flexible work arrangements as a great retention tool for them, followed by recognition from their boss.
The study has identified the trend that workers want meaningful work more than anything else, a job that makes use of their talents.
The report concludes that retaining good workers is not just a human resources function. It starts with the C-suite and runs all the way down to the supervisors.
Five hundred workers were polled at large companies all over the world and in major industries.
