Executive Coach Corliss McGinty Offers Nationwide Video Training Option for Clients
HD Video Training Offers Equal Benefits without the Extra Expense
Greensboro, N.C. August 27, 2012 - Gone are the days when being a company's consultant meant spending a lot of time in airport security lines traveling to meet with clients. Welcome to the new world of video training. With clients based across the U.S., Soft Solutions Consulting <http://www.softsolutionsconsulting.com/> President Corliss McGinty knows firsthand the benefits of video training.
There has been a trend, according to Sherpa Coaching's annual survey, that more coaches are going virtual with access to tools on the internet. McGinty says a decade ago, 90% did coaching solely over the phone. She feels that having a visual is the next best thing to being there since it opens up a whole new world in coaching. Even when a client moves locations or jobs, she is able to still 'see' them virtually.
"It's more productive, more cost-efficient, eco-friendly and provides a more genuine, true-to-life experience than any other form of technology. Where there is voice, there should be video," says McGinty.
Recently, McGinty conducted virtual training from her office in Greensboro, N.C. with the design team at LifeSize Communications, a division of Logitech in Austin, TX. LifeSize is a leader in the video conferencing equipment market. Their goal is to bring the telepresence experience to the board room, as well as to the conference room, executive offices and remote workers.
LifeSize had already worked with McGinty in person but needed her to join them for a team assessment on a particular day when she was not available to be in Texas. Megan Lueders, corporate Vice President of Marketing at LifeSize, discussed the options with McGinty and quickly decided they would use their own product and conduct the training via video. Corliss was more than open to the idea.
"We were up and running with her smiling face on a big HD monitor in minutes. Everyone in the room felt as though she was right there with us - asking pointed questions, sharing her slides with us - it was just as good, if not better, as having her physically in the room," said Lueders.
Lueders feels that McGinty's expertise enabled teams at LifeSize to really get to learn about one another in a way that cannot be done in a typical working environment. The consensus was that everyone left the training with a better sense of understanding about their co-workers - in areas such as how to approach someone with a problem, how others like to be praised, even how others deal with criticism.
"The training doesn't end when the session is complete," adds Lueders. "McGinty sends weekly clues to everyone who attends; little nuggets of though-provoking ideas that really keep what attendees learned top of mind. Some people have even made notebooks of every clue over the past three years leading them to a better understanding of themselves and co-workers. Self-awareness is the cornerstone of effective leadership. McGinty has a knack for enabling our people to truly understand and appreciate what they bring to the table."
McGinty is now using an innovative form of technology from a company called Manna Video to send personalized follow up video messages to stay connected with those whom she coaches. She sends frequent tips and reminders about how to use the skills learned in previous training sessions. This is able to be done with either one-on-one training or with a group. She often receives dozens of emails after a training session and this allows McGinty to follow up with individual questions using a video response.
The newly-published book No Winner Ever Got There without a Coach, a guide to personal and professional success just released from Insight Publishing features a chapter with McGinty. Her chapter is entitled Future Leadership. In it, she shares the Top 10 Roadblocks to Success along with other tips on how to self-direct personal development and a career path.
"It was truly an honor to be chosen as one of the top 16 consultants in the U.S. to contribute to this book," says McGinty. "Whether through video training, in-person training or as an author, my goal is to share the latest theories of culture and leadership so they can be turned into basic best practices every individual and company can embrace."
