Apple is rolling out iTunes in new markets today. I’ll bet they make a lot of money in those markets.
New markets are a good thing, as long as you have a good model and the bandwidth to handle the additional markets without hurting what you are doing in current markets. Years ago we cut off all healthcare recruiting and decided to concentrate on markets where we had greater success. After a couple of years the bubble burst and business was getting very difficult. We decided at that time that we’d be better off in the healthcare market along with our other markets. It wasn’t exactly a well thought out strategic move, but neither was the decision to get out.
A couple of years later we were doing solid numbers in healthcare and it has become a very solid market for us. If you can recruit you can recruit. If you’ve got the bandwidth and a good plan, or can put one in place, then go for it.
