OK, you made a mistake at work and now you need to decide what to do and how to respond.
Most of us have messed up at work at one time or another. What we do about the mistake and how the administration of your company deals with the mistake becomes a measure of your personal integrity, as well as the integrity of your company.
Mistakes can be defined in a number of ways:
1.) As an incorrect, unwise, or unfortunate act or decision caused by bad judgment or a lack of information or care.
2.) Something in a piece of work that is incorrect such as a misspelling or a misprint.
3.) A misunderstanding of something or somebody which can lead to identifying someone or something incorrectly.
Think about a mistake you made.
Where does it fall in the categories listed above?
How did you respond? How did your company respond?
This month we will explore the thorny issue of mistakes we make at work and the responses available to us.
