Changes continue to occur in the industry of corporate learning. In recent years, the industry has moved from technologies like learning management systems - that provide basic tracking and management of learning activities - to the cusp of a revolution where learning can be customized to the user and delivered wherever he or she is located. While on the cusp, the industry is not “there” yet. In 2011, a significant move in the right direction occurred by vendor commitments to mobile, video training and social media for learning. 2012 appears to be the year that major corporations make the commitment for early deployment.
