As a manager, I have learned over the years how important it is to lead by example. So many times, we see managers doing things at work they should not be doing but it is ok because there the manager.
However, if we see an employee behaving in the same manner we are quick to reprimand that employee. In order to create a strong sense of security and increase in productivity it is important as managers we lead by example.
Therefore, when it comes time to reprimand an employee for not adhering to policies, we know we can proceed with the reprimand because we expect the same from all employees and the same for all members of management as well.
