Social Media and Networking are the focus of the latest Kelly Global Workforce Index release. Nearly 100,000 respondents took part in the survey – some of the findings I find most interesting are:
•33% of respondents claim to censor content on their social media profiles to avoid career problems.
•26% are actively concerned that their career prospects could be impacted by their social media activity – with Gen Y being the most concerned demographic group.
•Despite 24% of jobseekers using social media to seek out new opportunities, only 1% of those surveyed claim to have actually found a job through social media sites.
•For all of the media coverage, only 3% of respondents actively using social media are using Twitter.
•Of those respondents who do use social media, profile creation is virtually neck-and-neck between Facebook (33%) and Linkedin (32%).
