General Election 2010: David Cameron would be right to cut public sector pay
David Cameron announced today that he will review public sector pay - with a view to imposing pay ratios to ensure that the pay at the top of the ladder cannot race away from the bottom. This radical policy deserves to be welcomed by Conservatives as much as by social justice enthusiasts. The issue of high-pay in the public sector is, of course, a well traveled road for Tories but Cameron is right to recognise that this isn’t just about saving money – it’s about fairness of reward and combating inequality.
