In these tough economic times, recruiters are faced with the ultimate catch-22 - Find talent without spending money - yikes! A one-two combination better left for those seeking out pain and discomfort. For everyone else, recruiters do have several inexpensive options that get results:
1. Free Sponsored Posting - Ultimate option because it costs $0 - A few select Recruitment Advertising Agency's (Ad Club included) currently offer new clients free "sponsored" postings on several top job search sites, such as Indeed.com and Simplyhired.com (no purchase necessary). The "sponsored" status puts your ad on the 1st page of search results - 75% of clicks occur on the 1st page.
2. Google Adwords - Creating an account is free and you can set your own budget. Simply create a 3 line ad and your "adword job posting" will show up on the first page whenever a job seeker searches your type of position (you can even pick the geographic area to show your ad). This option takes advantage of the 120 million + job searches on Google each month.
3. Craigslist - Post your job opening on Craigslist. Most cities are still free, if not the cost for large cities like LA or San Francisco are under $80.
4. Simplyhired and Indeed - Post directly with them. You won't receive, "sponsored" status like option 1 above, but the free exposure helps. Note - Indeed just passed Monster as the 3rd largest job search site.
5. SEO - You can have your company's career site optimized so all job listings will be included in the Search Engines. Set-up fee's range from $399 to $999. Optimizing career sites is a booming trend among large corporations and anyone else who MUST take advantage of search engines - go where the audience resides! I will discuss specific SEO options on an upcoming post. Done properly, this tool can greatly reduce job posting budgets.
