See the movie Slumdog Millionaire.
I don't remember ever making a blanket recommendation about a film. Even close friends have different tastes, and I try to take that into account before suggesting someone see something I like. But this is different.
This movie is extremely well scripted, well acted, beautifully filmed, and has all the elements needed to win itself and academy award for Best Foreign Film. For pure entertainment, it's worth seeing.
What makes Slumdog Millionaire worth a blanket recommendation is the glimpse it provides of an incredibly harsh Third World underworld, out of which shines an inextinguishable flicker of hope, possibility, and goodness. What makes it worth a blanket recommendation is that if you watch and listen purposefully... (e.e. cummings writes of perceiving the world with the ears of his ears being awake and the eyes of his eyes being open in the poem, I Thank God for the Most Amazing Day)... Slumdog Millionaire will say something that will help you see your own piece of the world differently. Hopefully with more hope.
Make a Difference,
Brian
