Overland Park, Kan.August 4, 2008Prescription Solutions, a leading pharmacy benefits management (PBM) company, today donated more than $46,000 worth of diabetic supplies to two community indigent clinics in Kansas City and Topeka.
Executives from the company's Overland Park mail service facility hand-delivered several pallets of more than 50 different product labels of diabetic supplies, including diabetic strips, monitoring systems and lancing devices. Marian Clinic of Topeka and Duchesne Clinic of Kansas City, two safety-net clinics serving low-income and uninsured families, received the supplies.
"Diabetes is among the top three health conditions among the low-income and uninsured patients at our clinic, said Amy Falk, executive director of Duchesne Clinic. "Proper diabetes treatment calls for various equipment and supplies, and uninsured individuals find them difficult or expensive to obtain. Opportunities to receive donations such as these from companies like Prescription Solutions give our patients access to supplies they really need.

"It makes a big difference and encourages not only the patients, but also the many volunteers who serve at our clinic.
Prescription Solutions received the shipment of diabetic supplies late last year before system and formulary adjustments in the organization prompted alternative packaging and distribution. Executives collectively decided to take these unopened, in-date supplies and donate them to those who may not have easy access to diabetic equipment.
