Employee retention is a major challenge for most of the industries, notably the ones from the services sector, the ones which are commonly referred to as sunrise industries.In India sectors like Information Technology,Information Technology enables services, Business Process Outsourcing (BPO),Bio-pharmaceuticals and the like are having problems in retaining their employees owing to extensive poaching by the competitors. Companies have adopted diverse tools to arrest the same, like ESOPS (Employee Stock Option Plan),Novel Employee Engagement tools, Employee motivation etc. however, the reduction has not been to that extent as it was contemplated.Experts say that this is going to continue for a period of time, till the industry starts consolidating.But my consulting and training experience while dealing with clients in these sectors reveals that its not the question of expansion or consolidation of industries rather its a matter of putting in the good practices by bringing in all players from a sector together under the same roof and the same level of understanding.
