"Our greatest resource is our people. This clich , or something like it, is uttered each year across the world by thousands of top executives. And like so many clich s it is fundamentally true. Whatever the nature of its activity, the biggest single factor behind the success or failure of any organization is its ability to get the most from the collective talents of the people working for it.

Many recent studies have confirmed this commonsense proposition. They have demonstrated a clear link between high levels of employee engagement and high performance and the destructive effects of a lack of engagement.
