I've seen direct employers have great success with sourcing from resume databases but it seems the vast majority are reluctant to use these sources.
I would love to hear what your experiences have been. Or, if you have not yet pursued this avenue, please share why not...
Now, nothing against their doing this, however, I just have to tell you, if someone called, or emailed me saying - Jeff with your years of experience at StarTribune in advertising and your writing skills, you would be a strong candidate for....now that would get my attention!
Also, if I were being offered an on-going position with a base salary, I would also take note.
So, I guess this is both to advise that if you are going to pursue candidates in this manner, personalize your correspondance. And this is to suggest that with this as the competition, a direct employer, offering a competitive salary could really clean up by pursing candidates in database!
