HR Technology:
At HR Technology, I had 48 vendor briefings booked in two days. The reality was there really wasn't much new or that exciting. Everyone was talking about the same things ...talent management, all the vendors are experiencing solid growth, and so on. Of course, the performance management space seemed to be the busiest and the Workday booth staffed by none other than Dave Duffield always seemed to be full. The major announcements at the show were:
1) Kenexa's announcement to buy BrassRing
2) The recent funding of $10 million to Talentology
3) The debt that Workstream took on - $15 million, promising a 30-40% return in the first year ... Not sure what to think of that but the stock price is almost in range that the firm is worth picking up for the revenue only.
After 46 meetings I was pretty exhausted and still had two to go - SABA and Jobster. Now my staff and I had a bet that Jobster would be a no show, as Jason Goldberg had stood me up the day before. But arriving early in the pressroom was the web 2.0 guru himself. Although I was preparing to be upset with him, and skeptical of his recent acquisition (recruiting.com and jobby), he quickly won me over and became the highlight of all the briefings. Truthfully, he is so far out there in terms of where the web is going and the opportunities to a more "user driven" job board than anything we have seen, that you could only stare in amazement as to what he has accomplished in a mere three years. So what is most impressive?
Fifteen million dollars in sales, $250,000 sourcing deals to many F1000 firms, or web 2.0 user driven ratings and tagging system. You have to see it all to believe it. Call your local rep for a demo of the new product launching soon.
HR Executive does such a great job at orchestrating this event and we are truly proud to continue to be a part of it.
At our own conference this week, attendees will have the opportunity to see some of this web 2.0 in action as some of the community features hit HR.com. Although they will be released in Beta, look for following:
- The largest HR Job Network to launch with over 65,000 jobs.
- A new market place to buy and sell HR related products
- A very beta launch of topleaders.com
HR.com Marketplace
HR.com is launching its online HR Marketplace, which is dedicated solely to HR-related products and services!
Reach new markets for your products and services, increase sales volume, and create awareness for your products and services. Initially, there will be two kinds of transactions: fixed price offerings and auctions (lowest bid or highest bid).
To launch HR Marketplace, HR.com is offering the following promotional package. For the first two listings in each of the categories (except books), sellers will get:
- A press release hyping the products for sale
- Two months of front page exposure on HR.com
- Two months of coverage on the relevant Community page (Staffing, Leadership, etc.)
- Top exposure in HR Marketplace listings
While additional listings will be accepted, only the first two in each
category will be entitled to the above promotional package. We are not
looking for your average product for sale to be included in the first
two listings, but rather, something very exciting. So think hard about
what would make this exciting. A percent of the sale donated to a charity,
something that is very had to get (like lunch with Warren Buffet), or
something companies may not be able to afford but would love a chance to
win (think front page of coverage of the Wall Street Journal).
The marketplace is open as of Wednesday, October 25th. Please take a
minute to visit it at crm.hr.com/marketplace and let the bidding begin.
