Not only are sweethearts still enjoying the afterglow of whatever cupid delivered, organizations are becoming increasingly comfortable with the notion of love at work. I´m not referring here to the romantic kind. Rather, I´m referring to the notions of affinity and connectedness at the office. I´ve recently noticed a proliferation of books that encourage leaders to let down their guard and increase their willingness to be open, authentic and compassionate with their people.
First, there is Tim Sanders book called Love Is The Killer App. Tim explains that our knowledge, our networks and our compassion are our social capital and we need to cultivate them and share them generously. Click here for a summary of my interview with Tim that outlines the key principles of his book.
Next on the Love List is Creating WE: Change I-Thinking to WE-Thinking & Build a Healthy, Thriving Organization. In this book, Judith E. Glaser talks about the need for organizations to recognize and leverage the power of collaboration and for leaders to give up any remaining shreds of "command and control". Join me for my interview with Judith on February 27th at 10am PT/1pm ET. (Premier members register free of charge, Guest members register for a fee). Click here for more information.
Richard Boyatzis and Annie McKee are well known, along with co-author Daniel Goleman, for the bestseller Primal Leadership: Learning to Lead with Emotional Intelligence. Richard and Annie have co-authored a new book called Resonant Leadership in which they discuss the power of mindfulness, hope and compassion as the keys to renewal and sustained leader effectiveness. Tune in on March 13th for my Thought Leader interview with Richard on the book´s highlights. This one is free of charge to all members - guest and premier, so join us and see what our weekly Thought Leaders program is all about!
