Occasionally, I´ll have the good fortune of meeting and conversing with someone that gives me a reason to be optimistic about the future of the human resources "industry." They are vendors, human resource practitioners, authors, academics, influencers, and the like. These particular professionals always seem to have a knack for painting a picture that accurately portrays the market. They tend to have the tenure, connections, knowledge, and data that help them paint a market picture that is almost three dimensional in scope. When you see it you want to reach out and grab it...and interact with it.
They tend not to speak from a script, but rather from a deep rooted passion for what they do. You can hear it in their voice and see it in their face. I recently had the pleasure of speaking with two professionals that helped me reaffirm my belief that "this HR space" is indeed a good place to make a living -- Craig Julien (VP and GM of Ceridian's Recruiting Solutions) and Li-Chun Hsu (Director of Marketing for Peopleclick).
If you ever have the opportunity to spend a minute with Craig and Li-Chun do so.
Sometimes, passion is contagious.
