Tip #2 Knowledge is not power
Knowledge is power. Most people agree with this statement.
But, here is a brutal fact: It´s not what you know that makes a difference, it´s what you do that makes a difference. It´s what you apply over and over again until it causes you to transform new knowledge into a new auto-pilot response pattern. After all, you can read all the diet books in the world, and never lose a pound.
Most leaders and managers say they know how to lead people. They´ve got it all together. They can talk a great game...and yet when it comes to actually doing, they don´t act according to what they know. They act in accordance with their habit patterns --- patterns that are typically based on what has worked for them in the past. Yet, what has worked in the past may no longer provide optimum results today. Their assumptions that have worked in the past need to be revisited, reevaluated and maybe even, horror of horrors, changed.
