Remote workers. In most cases, you have never met any of these people face-to-face. You hire them, work with them, and dismiss them remotely. While this happened less frequently in the pre-COVID-19 world, it is the forced norm in the during-COVID-19 world.
When it is “over,” while many people will go back to work onsite, the work-from-home contingent will still be much larger than it was before. Yes, remote work will become a norm for many companies in the coming months/years.
