This one-day virtual HR research event will focus on the increasingly crucial topic of internal mobility within organizations. Topic experts will drill down into the related issues of succession planning and career development, specifically considering the challenges of the pandemic. It can be difficult to recruit top talent, especially for hard-to-fill roles. Therefore, organizations must often develop and manage the talent they need internally, which leads to greater internal mobility.

Internal mobility can be challenging because when an employee moves to another position, their previous position must be filled. On the other hand, such mobility can be a great way to retain employees and give them a better overall workplace experience. This starts by cultivating a culture in which internal mobility is allowed and even encouraged. HR initiatives can go a long way toward nurturing such a culture.

One key aspect of internal mobility is creating a robust succession planning system. This not only entails creating a succession pipeline but helping employees, especially high potentials, gain the skills and knowledge they need to rise into leadership positions. There are many methods of developing such high potentials, with coaching, mentoring and stretch assignments being just a few.

But not everyone aspires to work in leadership positions. Instead, they want to develop their skill sets so they take on new challenges, become more valuable to the organization, and hone talents that are marketable outside the organization as well. Yet, previous HR.com research has shown that most companies continue to struggle with career development, often relying on ad hoc systems that fail to provide employees with what they want.

So, this event will also provide insights into how to set up career development initiatives that both engage employees and help them acquire the knowledge and skills that allow them to become even more valuable assets to their organizations.

Not only will this event address these and other questions, it will highlight emerging technologies and present predictions about how the landscape will evolve over the next several years. In short, this virtual event will provide a detailed snapshot of today’s internal talent and mobility trends, potential best practices, where things are headed in the future, and how these initiatives can be critical to the success of a business.
