A recent study conducted by market research firm Forrester indicates that digital transformation is currently in a "sorry state." But are things really so dire? One of the main purposes of the HR.com study was to determine the state of digital transformation from the perspective of today's HR professional, with a focus on learning and development. Do they feel their organizations are engaged in and prepared for such transformation? If so, how are they preparing from the perspective of learning and development?
Nearly three-quarters of respondents identify changing technologies as a primary driver of digital transformation. "Changing technologies" are the most commonly cited driver of digital transformation. However, an article in Deloitte Insights argues that strategy is a more important driver than technology. The HR.com/SumTotal study confirms that other drivers play a major role. Over half of respondents also cite the following as key drivers: evolving business paradigms, changing employee expectations, and business competition.
