Addressing the Recruitment and Retention Challenges of Today's Larger Organizations: How to attract and retain talented employees

Effective talent management (TM) remains elusive for many organizations as they struggle to retain employees, find qualified job candidates and use TM technologies. Talent management challenges facing larger organizations differ from those of small and mid-sized employers. This report focuses on larger organizations with over 1,000 employees. Learn why keeping talent is a major challenge, why these retention problems cause most hiring to be done externally even though most participants say that their organizations have an attractive employer brand, and why they struggle to attract the right talent.
HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE RESEARCH:
We asked respondents whether candidate attraction was an issue in their organizations. Over half (56%) told us it was important, and less than two-fifths said this was not an issue. By comparison, 52% of small-to-mid-sized organizations said candidate attraction was an issue.
Are recruitment and retention problems being driven primarily by poor employer branding? Apparently not. When we asked our panel of HR practitioners if their organization's employer brand is attractive to all generations, well over half answered in the affirmative.
Large companies are a lot more likely to embrace talent management technologies, perhaps because they have more complex talent management problems and more resources to invest in such systems. The size of this market helps explain the sheer number and diversity of such solutions; there are over 180 TM applications on today's HR technology market, and there is constant innovation in the industry.
