Many asynchronous e-learning courses - such as the Khan Academy - have already had an outsized impact on the learning industry. Virtual classrooms are now becoming more commonplace as well due to the increase in available broadband and the next generation of reliable conferencing software, such as Zoom.
As members of an organization, these things have always been an elusive pursuit. This topic has always been near and dear to my heart probably because it remains an issue, and it still is to this day.
It’s a common question that trainers have … “People aren’t using the e-learning resources that we’re providing. How can we get them to actually take courses?” This is the wrong question. The right question is, “What do we need to do to make our e-learning more valuable to employees?”
It’s time to think about soft skill training in a new way. We all know this type of training traditionally takes place face-to-face over the course of a day or two and includes role play, personalized coaching, and more advanced programs offering individualized video recording. It’s a big event.
The global COVID-19 pandemic and the ensuing chaos it has caused are impacting us daily from all angles – health, economics, logistics, politics, education, relationships, and more. For people working in all industries and sectors, it is creating a huge amount of fear and anxiety.
