How can you tell whether the candidate can work effectively with others in the organization? That’s what is often called by the vague term fit. It can be difficult to determine fit because it requires us to assess personality traits that can’t be directly measured. Yet, it’s so important that I like to say that fit trumps resume every time.
The report card on hiring in North America is poor and indicates that too many organizations are simply filling positions with “bodies,” as opposed to applying meticulous screening to avoid hiring the wrong people in the first place. When one hears the words “diversity,” “inclusion,” and “compliance,” often similar thoughts come to mind.Although, these words have some slightly similar meanings among them, they each have distinct meanings, which should be understood in order to apply the concepts appropriately in day-to-day discussions.
Attracting the brightest and best talent to your company is a sign of good leadership team.However, finding them requires serious efforts and lots of creativity. The strongest talent out there is probably a gainful employee somewhere else, so the real trick is to pull such employees who aren’t even looking for a job yet.
