Ways Sales Recruiting Goes Off Track: And how to adjust your course

Recruiting talented sales professionals continues to be a challenge, even with all the great candidates on the market. Part of why sales hiring can be so difficult is because of the sales recruiting process, rather than the candidate pool itself. Recruiters may uncover strong candidates with the right skills for the job, but end up losing them to a complex or lengthy recruitment process.

Managed Talent Acquisition: Is outsourcing your recruitment right for you?

Hasn’t it been an interesting handful of years for corporate recruiting? A nasty recession that started in 2008 has had a very anemic and hesitant recovery. The markets have been volatile. The economic strategists can’t seem to find consensus on whether we’re pulling out of, still in, or double dipping back into this “Great Recession”. With all this uncertainty in the market, organizations are struggling with whether or not to hire staff and whether to invest and build up or retrench and tear down their recruitment capability.

Screening Your Contingent Workforce: What HR professionals should know

Have you heard the one about the contractor who used his position to defraud a company’s clients? This may sound like the opening of a joke, but if you’re an HR professional it’s no laughing matter—especially when it’s revealed the contractor had a prior criminal record and no one knew.

Online Dating: What it has in common with contingent workforce

There are uncanny and revealing parallels between online dating and the continent workforce. Both reflect a cultural movement that has become an accepted modality of relationship building in the 21st century and can be every bit as passionate, tumultuous and potentially rewarding — as any of the romantic variety. The fact is that today’s online dating growth curve resembles the rise in the contingent workforce. Twenty years ago, the contingent workforce was nearly 40 million according to the Washington and Lee Law Review. In 2012, Snelling Staffing predicted that the contingent workforce will continue to grow at 19% through 2018, while traditional employment will only grow at 11% annually. Similarly, Pew Internet revealed that in 2013 a whopping one in ten.

Social Media or Social Recruiting?: Still brings in candidates

2013 Talent Acquisition Survey: Don’t Allow Online Applications to Damage Your Employer Brand

Since the economy bottomed out in 2008, the “resume black hole” has gained folklore status, cropping up in the national employment conversation like clockwork every few months. Despite their best efforts, HR executives’ at large enterprises continue to combat the popular perception that today’s talent acquisition process is yet another iteration of man versus machine.

A Job Board, By Any Other Name: Still brings in candidates

What do Mark Twain, David Hasselhoff and Bill Cosby have in common? Reports of their deaths came out while they were still alive! Such is the case with job boards. Every talent acquisition professional has heard some alleged expert say it: Job boards are dead. Perhaps the confusion lies in the definition of just what a job board is.

Executive Presence: What Is It and How Do You Get It?

In the opening scene of the legendary film Casablanca, an employee walks intently through the casino with a piece of paper in hand. The employee arrives at a table and reaches across to hand the paper to an unseen recipient. All the viewer can see is the recipient writing his signature authorizing a payment of 1,000 francs with the words —Rick-OK. The camera slowly pans up to Humphrey Bogart’s face, and the viewer becomes aware of who Rick Blaine is. From the opening scene, Rick establishes he’s the boss, and in the end, he has the Executive Presence to do the right thing.
