While generative AI only entered the mainstream one year ago – as hard as it is to believe — AI is not new by any means.
Artificial intelligence technology surrounds us every day and is even running right in the palm of our hands via our cellphones. From curated ads and social media feeds to predictive text capabilities and Netflix recommendations, the “mysterious” software already plays a big role in our day-to-day, unknown to most.
While the average person has been using this technology for years, it’s only been in the last year that generative AI – a form of artificial intelligence that produces unique content such as text and images when data is inputted - has sparked immense discussion. As this smart technology has quickly entered the mainstream, business leaders and employees are realizing just how handy GenAI can be in getting work done, which has increased conversations about corporate-wide adoption strategies are taking place.
An iCIMS survey revealed that many people are either open to using AI in the workplace or already doing so. And, their opinions are changing – 20% of those surveyed said that are more open to using it than they were in the last six months.
Artificial intelligence is already a big part of the recruiting and hiring experiences with iCIMS. GenAI is just the next phase of the journey, and there remains significant opportunity to transform the way we work. But don’t move too fast.

With great AI power comes great responsibility; HR technology vendors are bringing their GenAI products to the market in the blink of an eye, building them as quickly as the trend arrived. While GenAI brings with it the potential to enable remarkable innovation, the technology also holds the power to amplify bias, discrimination and risk – issues our community has worked so hard to mitigate for decades.
GenAI is most effective when adopted thoughtfully, with a trustworthy vendor and for the right use cases to improve efficiencies.

I found the right GenAI tool for my business. What are some ways I can use it to impact my team’s productivity and streamline time-consuming tasks? [Generating Response ...]
As a hiring manager, I’m often asked to join interviews with short notice and very little prep time. Understanding who the candidate is, what the role is and pulling together relevant interview questions can be a challenge. Some vendors are working on GenAI capabilities that can help you compose tailored interview questions in just seconds based on the job description and the candidate’s resume. This is a feature that I am particularly excited about and will help me have more productive conversations with candidates and ultimately lead to higher quality hires.
GenAI capabilities can also help refine job descriptions. I’m a tech guy, so writing code comes more naturally than writing job descriptions. GenAI can be a gamechanger in lessening the burden of writer’s block and get you to a better starting point so you can hire faster and at scale.

Moving from that strong foundation will allow you to harness the full potential of generative AI and power a fair and positive employee and candidate experience.
