With the school year now underway, I have been reflecting on how my kids have grown. This year marked the milestone of sending my oldest to public school and with that came the anxiety of putting my kindergartener on a bus. This would be the first time I didn’t directly hand my five year old over to the person who would be caring for her. My fears ranged from wondering how she would find her classroom, to if she would find the right bus to take home, to finding friendly companions to sit with.

People like to be productive. They particularly like to see results when they commit to a day’s work, either on site or at a remote office location. While it might be fun to chat with a friend or text a BF, employees, when using their desktop, are there to work. Unfortunately, a recent survey of employee users and IT professionals has shown that corporate computers aren’t meeting employee expectations regarding speed of log on or other processing tasks, giving employees ample opportunity to chat, text, kibitch or check the latest sports scores while waiting for their computer to “do something.”
