Thank you for your effort to summarize motivation science. I'm curious to know why you stopped in the 1970's? Maslow has been rejected as a valid theory (even by Maslow himself in later life). McGregor is a good start, but still quite poor. I would recommend reading about the two most validated scientific models of motivation and engagement: self-determination theory (Deci & Ryan) and the job demands-resources model (Bakker & Schaufeli).
