Welcome to the October issue of Personal Excellence.

Success, goal-setting, positiveness and personal growth are some of the topics that always find a place in this magazine. And as an Editor, I absolutely love working for Personal Excellence, as I get a chance to motivate myself every month by reading the insightful articles sent to us by our dear authors. Just like me, if you are also looking for some self-motivation, then this issue of Personal Excellence is all yours.

Let us start with the cover article that sets the tone for success. Terri Jacke’s article, A Secret Path To Success talks about how continual character growth becomes the foundation for success. Each stage of development builds upon the prior stages, and the more advanced we are coming out of each stage, the better equipped we are to make decisions that best serve our values, strengths, and interests. Those decisions lead us to greater fulfilment. And, the more fulfilled we are by our work, the more engaged and energized we are about our work, leading to greater opportunities for success. Read the article to learn about the seven stages of character development at work.

About 100,000 hours! That’s how much time you might spend working. This toiling takes up more time, more energy, than any other aspect of your life. So why not make it meaningful? Even joyful? Jonas Altman’s article, Shaping A Working Life That Brings Joy talks about five sure-fire ways to set you on the right track.

Have you set any goals for yourself this year? Great if it is a success, but what if it isn’t? Goal setting often fails because of simple mistakes. The most common of these is setting a goal too casually. The problem is that given the day-to-day drudgery of work, these kinds of goals usually are not very motivating all on their own. How to move beyond this? Read Kevin Shulman’s article, Why Goal Setting Often Doesn’t Work, for more insights.

The notion of acceptance as a critical leadership skill may seem strange. Leaders are supposed to set direction, create a vision for the future and inspire others to help create that future. What does acceptance have to do with that? Tom Goodell’s article, In An Uncertain World, Acceptance Gives Leaders An Edge, talks about that and more.

In brief, this issue is all about strategies that will help you stay motivated and productive during this crisis and beyond. We hope you will enjoy reading all the articles and get back to us with your valuable feedback.

    Stay Safe!
