In one of the first cultural change projects that I worked on, I was tasked with teaching company members process improvement and critical thinking skills. The organization was committed to involving everyone in improving their processes and making a difference in the way they served customers with increased efficiency. Individuals were to learn and apply the skills to their jobs and to make any needed improvements.

We are witnessing the death (or at least the ineffectiveness) of the traditional cover letter for job applicants. If you want to stand out in the crowd, hiring managers today prefer something a little more interesting and efficient. "Try a video cover letter," says Chris Brown, vice president of human resources at telecommunications and collaboration solutions company West Corporation. "If done correctly, it is personal and engaging - and could very well be the difference between being ignored or getting the interview."

A woman phoned my radio show and reported that years ago when she became pregnant, her doctors told her that the baby would not survive. She and her husband prayed fervently for the child’s well-being, and the baby was born healthy and went on to live a happy life. Since that time she had a few miscarriages, and now the couple very much wants another child. “Do you think we each get a certain allotment of miracles, and when we use it up, we get no more?” she asked.
