As we finish off another beautiful year, it is time to look back and think about what has worked and not worked for you. It is also a great time to set the top goals or priorities for the year ahead. Let us all learn from our failures and cherish our success, as we step into year 2020.
As always, this month again, we have handpicked ten articles to help you stay motivated, and driven. Bill Benjamin’s article, Emotions Drive Behavior. Do You Really Get It? talks about ways to gain self-awareness of emotions that are driving your behaviors. According to Bill, if you can figure out what emotions are driving your behaviors, you as a leader, have made a big first step in getting to a higher level of performance. Read the article for more insights.
Let’s face it, you are who you are, whether you are working or playing, making positive connections at work or out of work, does it have to be either or? What if we spent our time as people who live integrated lives, weaving the fabric of who we are into what we do no matter what task we are engaged in? At times, we will show up with more energy for work related activities and other times we will show up with more energy for personal activities. The common denominator in all that we do is who we are while we do what we do. Lauren Miller’s article, Are You Satisfied With Who You Are At Work And At Home? talks in depth about this topic.
Most of us understand what it means to be empathetic. But knowing what it means and actually putting it into practice, especially in the case of empathy in the workplace, is another thing. Know more by reading Lesley Lyons’ article, Empathy In The Workplace.
One of the worst time traps that you can fall into is believing that by working a little longer, or by taking work home on the weekend, you can finally "catch up." This fallacy will keep you perpetually chasing the clock for the rest of your career, maybe even the rest of your life. Jeff Davidson’s article, Work-Life Balance Strategy: Leave Work On Time, talks about the erroneous notion of staying longer.
