Most companies love to throw a good party for their employees—whether it’s to convey a sense of appreciation, increase camaraderie, or just a mean to celebrate something good.
While there are many good reasons to throw a holiday party, and companies expect such occasions to lead to tangible business benefits, unexpected events can occur as everyone relaxes at the event.
Physical injuries, sexual misconduct, mis-behavior, or untoward incidence/s due to inebriated employee/s, the list can be long.
As per a new survey, only 65 percent of companies are holding holiday festivities in 2018/19, the lowest rate since the 2009 recession (Challenger, Gray & Christmas, ‘2018 Holiday Party Survey’). Now that is a stat for you to be concerned about.
How and where should you, as an employer, draw the line during such get-togethers? Companies should be more cautious so that they do not end up sorting out post-holiday party liabilities in the New Year.
