    Founders, Conversational Management

    1. Tell us the story behind the company. What led you to start it?

    Conversational Management was birthed out of the desire to make a better workplace. Out of our 11 years of research and experience training professional coaches, we realized that the most effective way to make a better workplace was to make managers better. We already knew that a coaching approach was the most effective way to develop leaders, and since managers account for 70% of the variance in employee engagement, we decided to focus our efforts on managers and executive leaders. Since 2010, we have trained over 2,500 people-leaders in over 100 organizations. Conversational Management is now 100% virtually accessible. It serves as a comprehensive management system for current and new managers; helping them move from boss to coach, so they can develop the people they manage, in the moment, on the job.

    2. A brief about the company and its products.  

    Using years of experience and research as to how adults learn and make behavioral changes, Conversational Management created a comprehensive management system of Measuring, Equipping and Sustaining company-wide talent development.  

    CM begins with Measuring employee engagement, cost of lost productivity, and cost of existing voluntary turnover.  

    Equip consists of 4 live, experiential learning modules (totaling 15 hrs, divided up into 9, 90-min., Instructor-led online modules) focused on
     
    1. The core skills, mindset, and process of coaching;
    2. Collaborative goal-setting skills to achieve alignment and enhance performance management;
    3. How to give specific positive feedback and productive corrective feedback;
    4. 15 management practices proven to increase employee engagement
     
    Sustain is a virtual support platform where leaders can not only gain mastery in the core CM management skills, but also receive coaching in real-time, for real-time issues they are facing in their day-to-day. Through the platform, participants get unlimited support, live practice, and coaching for a minimum of 10 months.

    3. New trends that you see in the HR market where you could be catering to.  

    Because CEOs say it’s their #1 talent focus, and because HR professionals say it’s their #1 challenge, our focus in the next 5 years will be equipping organizations to develop Next-Generation leaders, at the moment, on the job, anywhere.  We do that by equipping organizations with a distributed (decentralized) talent development model that increases the capacity of organizations 10-fold, without adding any additional salaried trainers, directors, and managers and nearly zero additional effort required by the HR or C Suite.

    4. Are you planning any improvements to your solutions?  

    We are always improving our products, our delivery, our accessibility, and the way we service our clients. We continually monitor product-market fit to make sure our products are truly solving the problems our clients are experiencing as effectively and efficiently as possible. In addition, we’re in the early stages of how we can further support these new management behaviors by providing a technology layer that helps reinforce the concepts and reduces friction to implementing these practices day-to-day.
