The Wannabe Business Partner: What exactly is an HR business partner?

Interesting article. I have worked in HR for 17 years, currently as a VP of HR and Marketing. Recently I have seen more and more job ads for HR Business Partners but interestingly with very different description of that role. In this article here one sentence really got me thinking about where we are going with HR; "However, the more successful HR has become as a business partner, the greater the danger that employees will lose trust and confidence in HR, exactly because the focus has moved away from employees."
