    Retention, motivation and work ethic are all related to employee engagement. Higher engagement means happy employees, happy customers and better business outcomes.
     
    However, engagement is a challenge. Globally, on average:
    ● 65% of employees are thinking about changing companies.
    ● 54% feel low energy and enthusiasm in their work.
    ● 17% are willing to make a significant discretionary effort.

    Add transformation to the equation and it becomes much more about ‘just doing your job’- employees are asked to learn new things, to get out of their comfort zone, to experiment and deal with uncertainty. These additional demands require energy, focus and perseverance so, engagement is absolutely key.
     
    Higher employee engagement means:
    ● 10% more customer satisfaction
    ● 21% more profitability
    ● 20% higher productivity

    Work is of course a way to earn money, but engaging your fellow employees gives them a sense of pride, purpose and friendship. The more engaged your people are, the more motivated and committed they are to their work, but are also heavily influenced by the social dynamic of the workplace. Real, deep, meaningful conversations are the most powerful tools for pinpointing issues, dissecting how your employees really feel, and for making real and impactful changes in your organization.
     

    Get Engagement Right and the Benefits Aren’t Incremental, They’re Compound

    Part of the challenge of engaging with your employees in a meaningful way is if they don’t see the value in committing the time to formulate thoughtful answers or divulge real pain points and challenges, you’ll just end up with superficial data points diluted with corporate speak. It’s absolutely necessary to engage in an authentic, approachable way.  Your employees are people above all else - brothers, mothers, dog owners, book lovers, professional ping pong players (you never know!) so it’s important to engage with them in a way that lets them feel comfortable to be their multidimensional selves. Many tools used for employee engagement today such as surveys end up collecting data that is flat.
