    What's Next in HR?: Positioning for the boardroom

    The art and science of managing a workforce has gone through various evolutions as the centuries have passed. Many who are currently credentialed practitioners started their careers as the ones who marshaled the personnel files, keeping the contents confidential and under lock and key. Matters such as pay rate, test scores, notes regarding performance reviews, days taken for vacation and paid time off, background checks, references, complaints from the boss, and many other matters also formed the basis of those files. All required confidentiality and the prudence of the one invested with managing them to keep them in that state.
